Dating the Shroud of Turin (and other Relics) without Destroying Them

Great news for archaeologists — a new plasma based c-14 dating technique that does not require the destruction of any materials.  The shroud of Turin may be first in line for the new technique.  There are several other biblical relics that would be good candidates.  Many churches have pieces or slivers of wood which purportedly came from the cross.  The Vatican reportedly paid tens of millions of dollars for the Roman soldier’s spear that pierced Jesus’ body.  Somehow, I doubt that the Catholic church really wants any of these to be tested.  They might not like the results.
