For anyone following the global warming debate, and some of the questionable research conduct by a few scientists who are deeply involved in the issue, this story from the New York Times should come as no surprise: evangelicals have joined the issues to launch yet another attack on evolution.
I rarely pay attention to these people because virtually nothing that the empirical community can do or say will change their minds. This quote, however, really jumped out at me:
The Rev. Jim Ball, senior director for climate programs at the Evangelical Environmental Network, a group with members who accept the science of global warming, said that many of the deniers feel that “it is hubris to think that human beings could disrupt something that God created.”
Hubris indeed. Denial is not just a river in Egypt.
