Over at Live Science, Owen Jarus reports on a visually stunning and spooky mask recently discovered in Pennsylvania:

Natufian Shaman Burial?

This is really cool — an elderly woman buried in the Levant 12,000 years ago with a plethora of grave goods and indications of a feast for her send off.  As reported by Live Science, this was a critical transitional period from foraging to agriculture:

Shaman Obama?

I came across this nicely altered image while searching for photos of shamans.  With the inlaid jade, it looks a bit more like a Mayan king’s headdress than a mere shaman’s.  Regardless, here’s to hoping for some national healing!
